Self-proclaimed president of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko said that he had accepted US President Donald Trump's offer to join the so-called "Board of Peace." He made the statement on Tuesday, January 20, BELTA reports.

"I have just signed the document. I have signed a corresponding appeal, as they asked, to the United States that we are ready to accept their proposal to become the founders of this Board," Lukashenko told reporters.

He said that countries wishing to become founders of the "Board" allegedly do not need to pay one billion dollars. This will have to be done if the state wants to avoid being re-elected and invited again in three years.

Lukashenko added that Belarus is unlikely to be able to provide much help in the situation with Gaza.

"But I am attracted by the fact that perhaps this Board of Peace, its actions, opportunities will spread to other parts of the planet. First of all, maybe we will help something in Ukraine, discuss how to promote peace," the self-proclaimed president said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 17, the Financial Times wrote that the Trump administration is considering the creation of a so-called "Board of Peace". It is an element of the peace plan for the Gaza Strip.

We also wrote that due to the situation around the United States and Greenland, the World Economic Forum in Davos canceled the signing of the "prosperity plan" for Ukraine.
