Work continues in the capital to restore critical infrastructure after enemy attacks. As of January 19, slightly more than 100 residential buildings remain without heating. This was announced on the air of a telethon by the spokeswoman for the Kyiv City Military Administration, Kateryna Pop.
According to the spokeswoman, some houses have not received heat since last week due to damage to the networks, others due to current accidents.
"Regarding high-rise buildings, 19 such buildings have been without heat since the attack, but we do not forget about the breakdowns in the heating networks. Therefore, as of now, there are a little more than 100 buildings in Kyiv where the heat supply has been suspended, including these 19, due to technical problems, and they are being resolved, the breakdowns are being eliminated, and these buildings are being gradually restored. The main issue is to restore the 19 that have not been connected to the heating network since the massive shelling on January 9," Kateryna Pop explained.
The exact terms of return of heat to all dwellings are not yet known, since specialists are working individually on each object.
"The technical task is being specified specifically for each building. Currently, while the general breakdown in the heating and electricity supply networks in Kyiv is being eliminated, we cannot say the terms of restoration of all such buildings. Information is being prepared and provided at the district level for each one specifically," she added.
The situation with electricity in the Kyiv region remains tense. Although no long-term power outages directly caused by the attacks have been recorded, the stability of the network is ensured by emergency measures.
"The situation with electricity in both Kyiv and the region remains difficult... Electricity is supplied almost everywhere. No houses have been recorded that have been without electricity since the attack, but emergency shutdowns are in effect, and there are individual breakdowns in the power grid. In particular, such an electrical grid failure was recorded in the Obolon district, where 5-10 houses are without electricity," the Administration spokeswoman said.
Despite the spot malfunctions, the Kyiv City Military Administration assures that electricity is supplied to every house in emergency shutdown mode every day.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, the most difficult situation with electricity supply in Ukraine is currently observed in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region. The previously announced hourly power outage schedules are not in effect.
Meanwhile, The New York Times claims that the aggressor country of russia has stepped up attacks on Kyiv's critical infrastructure to knock out the capital's heating and electricity supplies. These actions are intended to undermine the morale of citizens and make Kyiv unlivable.
