The format of power outages in Ukraine is changing - there may be no electricity for more than 16 hours a day. This was stated by the director general of the energy company YASNO, Serhii Kovalenko.
According to him, due to the difficult situation in the power system after the russian attacks, the country is switching to new schedules. "The situation in the power system has changed. If earlier more than four queues meant emergency outages outside the schedule, now the country is starting to live in schedules of 4.5–5 queues," Kovalenko said.
He emphasized that the previous guidelines are no longer valid. "The maximum intervals of 7 hours without electricity and 3.5 hours with electricity are currently irrelevant. The schedule of possible outages is also irrelevant," explained the director general of YASNO. According to him, "with restrictions of five out of six shifts, outages can last more than 16 hours. This is the current reality."
Commenting on the situation in the capital, Kovalenko noted that Kyiv is currently in emergency outage mode - approximately three hours with light and up to ten hours without it, although the situation varies depending on the district.
He separately drew attention to the large number of accidents in residential buildings. "Very often this is a matter for the house networks and the housing and communal services or condominiums. The algorithm of actions remains unchanged: first we contact the housing and communal services or condominiums, the electrician conducts an inspection and draws conclusions," the company's head explained.
At the same time, Kovalenko noted that long outages on a clear schedule in the regions are better than complete unpredictability. "Even such a tight schedule is better than chaos, because there are guidelines and an understanding of when the light should appear," he emphasized, adding that the reason for the situation is "cynical attacks by the enemy, who is trying to create a humanitarian catastrophe."
Speaking about a possible improvement, the YASNO director general noted that there are currently no forecasts. According to him, Ukrainians need to survive a period of severe frosts, and with warming, electricity consumption should decrease, but the key risk remains shelling of energy infrastructure.
We remind you that, according to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, the most difficult situation with electricity supply in Ukraine is currently observed in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region. The previously announced hourly power outage schedules are not in effect there.
