In Ukraine, stocks of quality products decreasing and prices for table beets increasing

Last week, the Ukrainian market observed a trend of increasing prices for table beets due to the reduction in stocks of root vegetables of proper quality and the growth of demand from wholesale companies and retail chains for this product.

This is stated in the report of the EastFruit project, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Thus, today, producers manage to sell table beets in the range of UAH 5-10 per kilogram, which is on average 19% more expensive than at the end of the previous working week.

The report states that market participants explain the increase in price in this segment by a noticeable reduction in product supply.

Today, sales of root vegetables from unequipped storage facilities are practically complete, and the supply of substandard vegetables has also significantly decreased, which, in turn, allowed producers to raise prices for quality products.

However, it is worth noting that current prices for table beets in Ukraine are on average 49% lower than in the same period last year.

But market participants do not rule out that the trend towards price increases may be temporary. In their opinion, further price increases may stimulate farmers to increase sales of root vegetables from storage, which will lead to an increase in supply and, as a result, to a decrease in prices in this segment.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, greenhouse tomatoes have become more expensive in Ukraine.
