In Poland, a volunteer initiative website raised more than PLN 1 million for generators for Kyiv after russian massive shelling of the energy sector.

This is evidenced by the page of the collection.

The initiative exceeded the initial goal and the authors raised the goal to PLN 2 million. As of the evening of January 18, PLN 1,484,074 has been collected.

"Thanks to your donations, we can do much more than we planned. This money is real warmth for people in Ukraine. We will bring help to those who are freezing in dark houses and hospitals without electricity. We will buy more generators, sleeping bags and fuel," the authors noted.

The page emphasizes that thermometers in the capital of Ukraine show 17 degrees below zero, and in this cold 70% of the city's residents remain cut off from electricity and heating. And people are in cold apartments and basements, wearing several layers of clothing, while russian drones and missiles are flying overhead, deliberately destroying energy infrastructure.

"We are organizing a fundraiser for a specific purpose - we want to buy and send 100 power generators and charging stations to Kyiv," the letter explains.

It is noted that the fundraiser was organized jointly by a number of organizations and social movements, including: Euromaidan-Warszawa, Fundacją Demokracja, Sestry.eu, Fundacją Otwarty Dialog, Fundacją Polskiej Rady Biznesu and Przedsiębiorcy Pomagają, Polenergia and Kulczyk Foundation.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, after the massive shelling by the aggressor state of russia on January 9, complaints about the cold and the availability of electricity for only an hour a day began to appear in the house chat in the Kharkivskyi Masyv neighbourhood of Kyiv. On the morning of January 17, a temperature of -5.8°C was recorded in one of the apartments. The condominium manually distributes electricity for an hour or two per floor per day. Among the residents is a lonely veteran in a wheelchair.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection, the most difficult situation with electricity supply in Ukraine is currently observed in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region. The previously published schedules of hourly power outages are not in effect there.
