The aggressor country russia is preparing to launch new massive strikes against Ukraine. Their target is likely to be the country's energy infrastructure facilities again.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his video address on Friday, January 16.

"Now we have information from the intelligence that the Russians are preparing for new massive strikes <...> Please pay attention to air raids," Zelensky said.

According to him, Ukraine is currently negotiating with partner countries on anti-aircraft missiles and air defense systems needed to repel russian attacks. It is important that partners hear and respond to Kyiv's needs.

Zelenskyy also said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is currently busy deploying more "Invincibility Points" and the government is working with energy campaigns and partners to ensure that Ukraine receives more equipment.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 16, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said that due to russian strikes, there is not a single intact power plant left in Ukraine. The shelling knocked out thousands of megawatts of generation.

As a reminder, the Estonian Army Intelligence Service also reported today that massive strikes on the Ukrainian energy sector did not help the russian army accelerate its advance on the front.
