The aggressor country of russia has intensified attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine after US President Donald Trump and russian dictator vladimir putin agreed to start peace talks to end the war.
Bloomberg reported this, citing an analysis of civilian casualties in Ukraine conducted by European governments.
The report of European governments says that in 2025, about 2,400 civilians were killed as a result of russian shelling. Almost 12,500 more were injured and traumatized.
The assessment does not provide any explanation for moscow's motives, but the timeline shows that the russians increased the intensity of attacks on Ukrainian civilians every time Washington tried to advance peace talks.
According to the report, more than 2,000 people were killed in 2025 after Trump had a phone call with putin, during which they agreed to start ceasefire talks. After that, the russian army carried out 40 of the largest strikes in the entire war.
In addition, after the August meeting between Trump and putin in Alaska, the russians launched an average of 5,300 drones into Ukraine every month. This is five times the average monthly figure for 2024.
After the information about the 28-point "peace plan" was released to the public, the russian army launched more than 9,000 UAVs and 350 missiles into Ukraine. The strikes killed more than 220 civilians.
Unnnamed European officials told Bloomberg that the numbers are proof that putin is not serious about peace talks.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in November 2025, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU) said that the number of civilian Ukrainians killed by russian shelling, increased by 26% compared to 2024.
