From January to October of this year, air attacks by the aggressor country russia on Ukraine resulted in the death of 548 civilians. This is more than a quarter more than in the same period in 2024.
This is stated in the report of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU).
The report states that this year the army of the aggressor country has significantly increased the use of long-range weapons to strike Ukraine. In the last few attacks alone, the russians have used more than 500 missiles and drones.
As the intensity of air attacks increases, the number of civilian casualties is also growing. Thus, from January to October, 548 civilians were killed as a result of long-range strikes by the russian army. This is 26% more than in the same period last year (434 deaths). In addition, 3,592 civilians sustained injuries and traumas (75% more than in January-October 2024).
The HRMMU noted that the latest air attacks by the russian federation targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The attacks have led to serious electricity shortages in most regions of the country amid falling temperatures and the approach of war, which increases psychological pressure on the civilian population.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 21, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said, that any peace plan to end the russian-Ukrainian war must comply with the resolution on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
