Ukraine is considering the US-proposed plan to create a free economic zone in Donbas.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Bloomberg, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
This proposal involves the creation of a zone with a special legal and tax regime in the areas from which troops will be withdrawn.
"The format is complex, but fair," the President of Ukraine said.
According to Zelenskyy, the proposal will require russia to "mirror" Ukraine's steps, and will also require discussion within the country.
The zone could be created in some parts of eastern Donbas and would serve as a compromise that would require both sides to withdraw troops from this territory to a sufficient distance to ensure normal life in this region.
"This is about freezing the line of contact, not the conflict," the head of state said, adding that such an agreement would be easier to implement and monitor by Ukraine's foreign allies.
Zelenskyy also said that he wants to personally discuss with President Donald Trump specific US commitments in the event of renewed russian aggression.
"I don't want it to end with just promises to respond. I really want something more concrete," the head of state said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to media reports, Ukrainian and US Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump will travel to the World Economic Forum in Davos, where they will hold a meeting.
