Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that rescuers of the State Emergency Service and police are working around the clock in an enhanced mode.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Rescuers of the State Emergency Service and the police are working around the clock in an enhanced mode. Personnel from the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions are involved. These are almost 1,500 police officers, more than 570 rescuers, and more than 300 pieces of equipment," said Ihor Klymenko.
The Minister drew attention to the fact that more than 1,500 Points of Invincibility and heating tents have been deployed in the Dnipropetrovsk Region.
"We help connect critical infrastructure facilities to backup power sources. In communities where the warning system is temporarily out of service, police inform about air raid alarms using loudspeakers. Patrol policemen ensure traffic control on dangerous road sections," the Minister emphasized.
According to the Interior Minister, at the same time, bad weather is raging in the western regions of Ukraine, with difficult traffic and ice.
"Rescuers and police are helping drivers get out of the snowdrifts. Almost a hundred police units and rescuers with all-terrain vehicles are involved in the disaster relief," Klymenko said
According to the Hydrometeorological Center, severe weather conditions will last for about a week.
It is now especially important to follow safety rules, be careful and not to go on long trips without an urgent need.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the mayor of Dnipro declared a national emergency due to the power outage.
