French President Emmanuel Macron does not rule out the possibility of restoring direct communication with russian dictator vladimir putin in the near future. The French leader said this in a commentary to BFM.
While talking to journalists, the French leader confirmed that preparatory work is currently underway to organize such communication. Despite the fact that Macron did not specify either the format or the specific location of the possible talks, he clearly outlined the timeframe.
"I am now organizing the establishment of contact in the coming weeks," said Emmanuel Macron, answering a question about a potential meeting or conversation with putin.
The French president once again emphasized the importance of maintaining diplomatic channels even in the face of a full-scale war. At the same time, official Paris assures that plans to resume contacts with the kremlin in no way indicate a change in France's strategic course. The position of unwavering support for Ukraine and strong condemnation of russian aggression remains unchanged.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, a Declaration of Intent on the deployment of multinational forces in Ukraine was signed in Paris.
Meanwhile, Merz is ready to send troops to NATO countries bordering Ukraine.
