The military is now receiving more than 1,500 anti-Shahed drones a day. Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"More than 1500 anti-Shahed drones per day - in December-January, the Ministry of Defense reached a high average in the supply of interceptors for the army. This allowed us to significantly increase the capabilities of units in countering air targets at various levels - from the front line to the defense of rear regions," he said.
Shmyhal noted that a separate tool for strengthening capabilities was the work of the DOT-Chain Defense weapons marketplace, through which military units ordered and received more than 7,000 tactical-level interceptor drones, which allows them to quickly meet their needs without waiting for centralized supplies
The Minister emphasized that interceptor drones are a critical element of multi-level air defense today, they allow:
- to preserve the expensive missile resource of air defense, using more economical means of destruction;
- to increase the density of counteraction to UAVs without overloading air defense systems;
- to provide the front with effective solutions for the protection of personnel, equipment and logistics.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, at the end of December, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi instructed to accelerate the purchase of weapons and equipment and strengthen the manning of units for the borders to intercept enemy Shaheds near large cities.
In November, Shmyhal said that the Ukrainian drone interceptor has been put into mass production in Ukraine.
