Maduro's photo from US ship unexpectedly made Nike tracksuit bestseller

The Nike Tech Fleece tracksuit suddenly found itself in the spotlight after the publication of a photo of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, taken by the US military after his capture. The model quickly sold out in the US and a number of European countries.

This is reported by Yahoo.

The impetus for the hype was a photo released by US President Donald Trump. He accompanied the photo with the caption: "Nicolas Maduro on board the USS Iwo Jima".

The photo shows the Venezuelan leader almost full-length: in dark glasses, headphones, with a bottle of water in his hand. He is wearing gray sweatpants and a hoodie that, by description and appearance, match the Nike Tech Fleece fleece suit. The brand itself positions this line as a combination of style and "premium comfort".

Interest in the clothing has increased sharply since the publication of the picture. According to search query analytics, the number of Google queries related to Nike Tech Fleece increased fourfold globally in the hours after Trump's post.

As a result, the model, which costs about USD 140 in the US or about EUR 120 in European countries, began to be massively sold out. It is reported that the suits, especially in large sizes, have disappeared from sale in some markets in the US and Europe, and in the Nike online store this item has become a top seller.

What is known about the kidnapping of Maduro

On January 3, the American special forces "Delta" carried out an operation to capture Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and take him out of the country. Later, the media reported that the plane carrying Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores landed at the US Air Force base Stewart in New York.

US President Donald Trump said that the United States would temporarily lead Venezuela until a "clear and safe" transition of power. In Venezuela itself, the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court ruled that Vice President Delcy Rodriguez would act as President in Maduro's absence.

Nicolas Maduro, who was taken to court in New York, stated that he is a decent person and is not guilty of anything.
