Nicolás Maduro will be tried in the United States, Utah Senator Mike Lee (Republican Party) said after his conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"Just got off the phone with Marco Rubio. He informed me that Nicolás Maduro has been arrested by U.S. personnel to stand trial on criminal charges in the United States, and that the kinetic action we saw tonight was deployed to protect and defend those executing the arrest warrant," he wrote on X on Saturday.

In his view, "this action likely falls within the president’s inherent authority under Article II of the Constitution to protect U.S. personnel from an actual or imminent attack."

Meanwhile, The New-York Times reports that Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez said during a speech on state television that the whereabouts of Maduro and his wife are unknown. She asked US President Donald Trump to provide evidence that they are alive.

Meanwhile, the russian Foreign Ministry condemned the US armed aggression against Venezuela on January 3 and expressed deep concern.

"This morning, the United States committed an act of armed aggression against Venezuela. This is a matter of deep concern and condemnation. We proceed from the fact that all partners who may have claims against each other should look for ways to solve problems through dialogic solutions," the so-called diplomats of the terrorist country stated.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, US President Donald Trump said that Maduro was detained and taken out of the country along with his wife. According to him, the United States has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela. The operation, he said, was conducted jointly with US law enforcement agencies.
