President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Kyrylo Budanov as the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. He also signed a decree appointing Oleh Ivashchenko as the chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
The relevant decrees were published on the website of the Presidential Administration on Friday, January 2, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
First, Zelenskyy signed a decree dismissing Budanov from the post of the chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. After that, a document on his appointment as the head of the President's Office was made public.
"Appoint Budanov Kyrylo Oleksiiovych as the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine," says Decree No. 5/2026.
The appointment of Ivashchenko was similar. First, the President dismissed him from the post of the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS). After that, he signed a document appointing Ivashchenko as the head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 2, President Zelenskyy said that he had offered Budanov to head the Presidential Office. He also instructed him, together with the heads of other institutions, to update and present the strategic framework for Ukraine's defense and development.
Later, the head of state announced a decision to appoint Ivashchenko to the post of the head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
It also became known on January 2 that the President instructed Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko to submit candidates to replace the head of the State Border Guard Service, Serhii Deineko.
