Zelenskyy appoints Ivashchenko as head of Defense Intelligence instead of Budanov

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleh Ivashchenko, as head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense instead of Kyrylo Budanov. Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"From today, Oleh Ivashchenko will continue to serve our state and carry out tasks to limit the russian military potential at the positions of military intelligence of Ukraine," he said.

Zelenskyy also said that before his new appointment, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Ivashchenko reported on the general situation around Ukraine and current threats.

Zelenskyy appointed Ivashchenko as head of the Foreign Intelligence Service in March 2024, replacing Oleksandr Lytvynenko.

Previously, Lieutenant General Ivashchenko held the position of First Deputy Head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense - Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
