Trump explains new bruises on his arm by aspirin. Experts say otherwise

US President Donald Trump has given an explanation for the bruises on his arm – according to him, they are caused by taking aspirin.

He said this in an interview with WSJ, Axios reports.

Thus, the 79-year-old President admitted that for many years he took high doses of aspirin to "prevent heart disease", which "causes bruises". In particular, Trump told WSJ that his doctors prefer that he take a lower dose than the 325 milligrams of aspirin that he takes daily, but he is "a little superstitious", so he will not reduce the amount.

"They say that aspirin is a good blood thinner, and I don't want thick blood flowing through my heart. I want good, thin blood flowing through my heart," he said.

In addition, Trump recalled how current Attorney General Pam Bondi inadvertently caused his hand to bleed when her ring caught on it during a greeting at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

The US President said that he now applies makeup to his hands in case he "gets hit again".

As CNN reported, new bruises on Donald Trump's left hand have once again raised questions about his health. During a series of events last week, the 79-year-old Trump appeared with darkening or light bruising on the back of his left hand, in addition to more persistent bruises on his right hand that had been visible for several months.

The new bruise was also complicated by the White House's explanation that the right-handed Trump's bruises appeared due to constant handshakes and regular intake of aspirin, which can contribute to such skin discoloration.

Medical experts told CNN there was no new cause for concern, calling it a likely benign condition common among the elderly, and they warned that Trump's reluctance to be more open about his health only threatens to increase the scrutiny he has tried to avoid all year.

After photos emerged over the summer showing swelling in his legs, the White House announced that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition common in the elderly.

Now, when asked about the bruise on Trump's left hand, the White House has declined to provide any new explanation.

"President Trump is a man of the people, and he meets and shakes hands with more Americans every day than any other President in history," said press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

However, several medical experts who have reviewed photos of Trump's left hand told CNN that the discoloration was likely not the result of a handshake, given that Trump is right-handed, but that his age and aspirin use could be a possible explanation. One doctor, who has not personally examined Trump, noted that similar bruising is seen in patients taking blood thinners stronger than aspirin, raising questions about whether Trump has disclosed all of the medications he takes.

Such medications are common and do not indicate serious health problems. Former President Biden disclosed that he took the anticoagulant Eliquis while in office. So the issue is not so much about medicine as it is about transparency.

"Any so-called medical professionals who engage in diagnosis from armchair or false speculation for political gain are clearly violating the Hippocratic oath they took and should have their heads checked," communications director Steven Chung said in a statement.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Trump was surprised by rumors of his death after a week-long absence from public view.
