The United States will provide Ukraine with security guarantees that will be legally binding, similar to Article 5 of the NATO Charter. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in response to journalists' questions, the Telegram channel "News Live" wrote on Tuesday, December 30.
Zelenskyy noted that the first point of security guarantees is a strong Ukrainian army, which will number 800,000 people, its provision and salaries, in which Ukraine will count on partners.
"As for other security guarantees, there are bilateral security guarantees between Ukraine and the United States, legally binding, we talked about it, an analogue of NATO Article 5, and we are also talking about bilateral security agreements with our partners, which are united in the format of the Coalition of the Willing," Zelenskyy said.
According to him, the 20 points of the main agreement on the end of the war are seen by four signatories - Ukraine, the United States, russia and Europe. Before signing it, some details of the document will be discussed, the President noted.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 30, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that peace in Ukraine can be achieved in a few weeks, but Kyiv must compromise on territorial issues.
On December 29, French President Emmanuel Macron said that in early January, a meeting of the "Coalition of the Willing" would be held in Paris, where the contribution of each country to guaranteeing post-war security for Ukraine would be finally discussed.
On December 26, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States had offered Ukraine a security guarantee agreement for a period of 15 years.
