The occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has completed restoration work by connecting an external power line to the grid. This is reported by Reuters with reference to the IAEA representatives.

Repair measures made it possible to restore the stable power supply necessary to maintain the safety of the facility.

The entire restoration process was carried out under the supervision of international inspectors who are constantly at the plant site. According to the official data of the agency, the radiation background at the Zaporizhzhia NPP remains stable, and the current operation of the facility, despite all the challenges, is assessed as safe

It is worth noting that the plant was not left without power during the repair. All this time, the power supply to the reactor cooling systems and other critical components was carried out through a backup line, which operated smoothly. IAEA representatives confirmed that continuous access to electricity is a key condition for preventing nuclear incidents, and no critical power losses were recorded during these works.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine and russia have agreed to a temporary ceasefire in the Zaporizhzhia NPP area to ensure the repair of damaged power lines.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the "sensitive issues" of the peace plan that have not yet been resolved in the negotiations are the Donbas, Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, as well as the "issue of money."
