European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen praised the results of the meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States on December 28 in Florida. According to her, the talks between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump resulted in "significant progress". She said this on X after a joint conversation with the leaders.

Von der Leyen noted that she held an online meeting with Zelenskyy, Trump and other European colleagues to discuss the results of their in-person meeting.

"We had a good, one-hour-long call with President Trump, President Zelenskyy and several European leaders to discuss their meeting today on peace negotiations. There was good progress, which we welcomed," von der Leyen wrote.

She emphasized Europe's readiness to continue to support Ukraine in security issues.

"Paramount to this effort is to have ironclad security guarantees from day one," the EC President said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Trump said he believes in putin's readiness to end the war and announced final negotiations.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready to withdraw troops, but this will be done only if the aggressor country russia takes mirror actions.
