US President Donald Trump said that russian president vladimir putin is allegedly determined to end the war against Ukraine and is "very serious" about this issue. Trump said this before a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Florida, European Pravda reports.

Answering a question from journalists about whether he believes in putin's desire to achieve peace amid massive russian attacks on Ukraine, Trump stressed that, in his opinion, moscow also wants to end the war.

"He is very serious about ending the war," the US president said.

At the same time, Trump mentioned the strikes on russian territory, hinting that they were carried out by Ukraine. According to him, the explosions took place "in various parts of Russia," and they definitely did not come "from the Congo or the United States." At the same time, he noted that he did not raise this issue during his conversation with putin and does not plan to do so.

"They're fighting a war. And we'll see what happens. But I believe it's a war that – we have two willing parties. We have two willing countries. They want to see it end," Trump said.

The presidents of the United States and Ukraine also announced the continuation of joint working groups on a plan to end the war. According to Trump, the US group will include special envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and "several other people."

He added that the US and Ukraine will continue to work together to end the war.

He added that the Ukrainian and russian people want the war to end, as do the "two leaders" - Volodymyr Zelenskyy and vladimir putin.

"I think we are in the final stages of negotiations. Either the war will end or it will last for a long time and millions of people will be killed. Nobody wants that," Trump said.

For his part, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine's representatives in the talks were NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhii Kyslytsia and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Andrii Hnatov. The president expressed hope that in January it would be possible to make decisions on all key documents.

Trump then clarified that the working groups would subsequently work with russia, as "there will be no result without it." According to him, the coordination of positions can take several weeks, but if the process is delayed, the negotiations may fail.

Earlier, the presidents of the United States and Ukraine said that the talks would continue, and the next meeting could take place in January in Washington.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready to withdraw troops, but this will be done only if the aggressor country russia takes mirror actions.

On December 28, US President Donald Trump said that a few hours before his meeting with Zelenskyy, he had a "good" phone conversation with russian dictator vladimir putin.
