President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that an agreement has been reached on his meeting with US President Donald Trump in the near future.
The head of state stated this on the morning of December 26.
According to Zelenskyy, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov informed him about the next contacts with the American side.
"We are not wasting a single day. We have agreed on a meeting at the highest level - with President Trump in the near future. Much can be decided before the new year," the President of Ukraine emphasized.
The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may take place as early as Sunday, December 28, Kyiv Post writes, citing an unnamed source.
According to the publication's diplomatic interlocutors, the American leader's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida is considered a likely venue for the negotiations. The meeting could take place on December 28, "if everything goes according to plan," the publication notes.
Commenting on the prospects of the so-called "peace plan," a senior Western official involved in coordinating the actions of the United States and Europe told the Kyiv Post about the atmosphere of "cautious intrigue" after recent high-level contacts between representatives of the Trump administration in Miami and Florida.
"The level of specificity is now higher than before. At the same time, the most difficult issues - security guarantees, implementation mechanisms and russia's legal obligations - remain open," he noted.
Recall that during the negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, the parties are currently working on four final documents at once.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy for the first time named the 20 points of the peace plan: what exactly is being proposed.
