The Finnish Border Guard Service in Lapland has stepped up training for conscripts in preparation for possible russian aggression. It was reported by CNN.

The publication writes that the situation in the border with russia is currently tense, as russia is increasing its military presence on its territory. About 40 kilometers from the border with the aggressor, the Finnish military is conducting exercises in Arctic conditions.

"In the frigid forests of the Arctic Circle, not far from the border with Russia, CNN's Isobel Yeung sees how Finnish border guards are training for the threat of war," the report says.

Finland said it wants to be prepared for any possible surprises from russia, especially after its invasion of Ukraine. To this end, the military is practicing movement in snowy terrain, patrolling wooded areas and actions of border guards in the event of an armed invasion.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Norway's regions bordering the aggressor country russia or having military facilities have been obliged to develop plans for military evacuation of the population in case of russian attacks.

On October 16, Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen said that russia is preparing for the second phase of potential aggression against the North Atlantic Alliance.
