Norway developing plans for military evacuation from border areas with RF

Regions in Norway that border the aggressor country of russia or have military facilities must develop plans for military evacuation of the population in the event of attacks by the russian federation. This was reported by the VG publication on Tuesday, December 23, citing the Directorate of Civil Defense and Civil Preparedness (DSB).

The Directorate emphasized that areas with an increased risk of russian aggression should be prepared for the evacuation of the civilian population.

"DSB has begun a new assessment of which areas in Norway should have plans for the resettlement and removal of the civilian population in wartime, the so-called military resettlement. We are doing this in close cooperation, in particular, with the Armed Forces and the police," said the head of the DSB, Elisabeth Aarsæther.

According to her, the evacuation plans primarily concern areas geographically close to russia or areas where there are military targets. In addition, the DSB is studying russian attacks on Ukraine's energy supply and other civilian infrastructure to take this into account in its protection plans. The Directorate is investigating which areas of Norway could be suitable as host municipalities in evacuation plans to provide displaced people with housing, medical care and educational services.
