Russian occupants conducted a series of targeted attacks on a combined heat and power power plant (CHPP) in the nearest suburb of Kharkiv this afternoon. One person was killed, and there are wounded. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported this on his Telegram channel.
"This led to a significant drop in voltage in the city, which directly affected the heat supply and operation of public transport," he wrote.
According to him, all relevant services are now determining the real scale of the destruction.
"Where it is technically possible, we are forced to switch to the "energy island" mode to reduce the consequences for Kharkiv residents," Terekhov said.
Damage to the power grid has also temporarily hampered the operation of electric transport in the areas of Rohan, Kharkiv Tractor Plant, Nova Bavaria and Kholodna Hora. Transport workers are already working to stabilize the situation.
The subway has been restored. Schedules of emergency outages from Kharkivoblenergo have been introduced.
As a reminder, due to the nighttime russian attack, there are new blackouts in the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Kharkiv and Chernihiv Regions.
