Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that Budapest is not interested in the fall of Ukraine, as such a scenario would be a serious challenge for Hungary itself. Orbán said this in a speech, fragments of which he published on the social network X, European Pravda reports.

According to the Hungarian prime minister, the fall of Ukraine would be a "disaster for Hungary." He stressed that Budapest should make efforts to prevent this.

"The fall of Ukraine would be a serious problem for Hungary. So it is not in our interest. We have to reach a good agreement to prevent this from happening," Orbán said.

He also emphasized the importance of stability in Ukraine for Hungary, in particular in terms of electricity and gas supplies to the neighboring country.

Orbán also said that the war is weakening Ukraine every day, while peace, according to him, is the only way to strengthen it.

"Everyone who truly supports Ukraine should strive for peace - and do so now," he wrote on X.

Earlier, as the Ukrainian News agency informed, Hungary again blocked the adoption of the European Union's annual enlargement statement, which contained an assessment of Ukraine's progress towards EU membership.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reminded Orbán about Hungary's alliance with the Nazis in World War II.
