The second round of direct talks between US representatives and a russian delegation on the settlement of the war in Ukraine continues in Miami. The meetings, which began on Saturday, are being held with the participation of special envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner and russian representative Kirill Dmitriev. This is reported by Reuters.

The meeting in Florida took place immediately after Friday's US consultations with representatives of Ukraine and the EU.

After Saturday's session of talks in Miami, russian representative Kirill Dmitriev told reporters about the constructive nature of the meeting with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. According to him, the discussions will continue on Sunday.

State Department Secretary Marco Rubio may join the consultations in Florida.

Earlier this week, representatives of the US, Ukraine and the EU announced significant progress on security guarantees for Kyiv that could be enshrined in a future peace agreement, but noted that the final viability of the plan depends on whether the kremlin agrees to the presence of a foreign security component in Ukraine.

Recall that the day before, French President Emmanuel Macron said, that Europe will face the need to resume communication with russian dictator vladimir putin in cooperation with Ukraine if the current negotiations do not lead to a lasting peace.

At a press conference in Brussels on December 18, the President of Ukraine said that there is progress in negotiations with the United States. In particular, he pointed out the frequency of communication on the peace plan and strong security guarantees progress. At the same time, he noted that there are still unresolved issues, in particular territorial ones.
