Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have officially confirmed that they will not join the financing of a large-scale aid package for Ukraine worth EUR 90 billion. This was reported in the summit conclusions.
This is a support program designed for 2026-2027, which most European Union countries consider to be critically important for the stability of the Ukrainian economy.
"Within the framework of enhanced cooperation (Article 20 of the Treaty on European Union) on the instrument based on Article 212 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, any mobilization of Union budget resources as a guarantee for this loan will not affect the financial obligations of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia," the text states.
The document provides for special conditions for the repayment of funds: the obligation to repay the loan will arise in Ukraine only after the actual receipt of reparation payments.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the European Union officially approved a large-scale package of financial support for Ukraine worth EUR 90 billion.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the European Council for approving the financial instrument worth EUR 90 billion.
