Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the European Council for approving the financial instrument of EUR 90 billion. The head of state wrote about this in Telegram.
The President emphasized the importance of the fact that the assistance, designed for 2026-2027, will ensure the country's systemic recovery and allow for effective planning of budget expenditures in the context of confronting aggression.
"I thank all the leaders of the European Union for the decision of the European Council to provide financial support to Ukraine for EUR 90 billion in 2026-2027. This is significant support that truly strengthens our resilience," the President said.
The head of state emphasized the particular significance of the fact that russian assets remain immobilized, and Ukraine has received a reliable financial security guarantee for the coming years.
"Thank you for the result and unity. Together we are protecting the future of our continent," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized, noting the consolidated position of European leaders.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the European Union approved financial support for Ukraine in the amount of EUR 90 billion.
On December 12, the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, stated that the European Union had approved a new procedure that provides for a long-term freezing of russian assets.
