Representatives of the United States and russia may hold a meeting in Miami on December 20-21 as part of an initiative by the administration of US President Donald Trump aimed at ending russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. This is reported by Politico with reference to two sources in the know.
According to the publication, the russian delegation is likely to include the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev. The American side is expected to be represented by Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.
It is noted that earlier this week, Witkoff and Kushner held lengthy talks in Berlin with Ukrainian and European officials. During these meetings, they discussed US security guarantees for Kyiv, possible territorial concessions and other parameters of the war settlement.
According to media reports, during the Berlin talks, American representatives pressured the Ukrainian side to give up the part of the Donbas that is under Ukrainian control.
At the same time, Axios reported that the next round of talks between Ukraine and the United States on ending the war could take place this weekend in the United States, probably also in Miami.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy announced a new stage of negotiations on a peace plan in the United States.
