President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced further steps in the negotiations on the peace plan, including a planned meeting of the Ukrainian and American teams in the United States in the near future. He said this while answering questions from journalists.

According to the head of state, the documents are currently being finalized, after which the United States will hold separate consultations with russia and the US President. "Today or tomorrow we will finalize the documents, then the United States will hold consultations with (russians - ed.) in the coming days, after that they will hold consultations with the US President, after that our teams will meet in the United States in the near future. I think maybe even on the weekend," Zelenskyy said.

The President added that after these talks, it will become clear what the next stage will be, in particular, whether a meeting at the level of leaders is possible. According to him, Ukraine is considering negotiations with US President Donald Trump.

As a reminder, on December 14-15, another round of talks between Ukraine, the United States and European partners on the American peace plan took place in Berlin. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and US President's son-in-law Jared Kushner attended the meetings.

Open sources and public statements show that the key topics of the negotiations remain the issues of territories and security guarantees. The US, in particular, insists on Ukraine's withdrawal from the Donbas, which Kyiv does not agree to, and offers security guarantees based on NATO's Article 5 model. Zelenskyy has previously stated that the document on security guarantees should be put to a vote in the US Congress.

In addition, on December 15, European countries presented their own plan of security guarantees for Ukraine, which contains six points and concerns military assistance, monitoring of the ceasefire and response in case of repeated russian aggression.

According to Axios, the next meeting of Ukrainian and American representatives may take place in Miami with the participation of working groups and the military, who plan to discuss maps. Zelenskyy also noted that Ukraine expects to prepare five documents of the peace plan, after which a separate meeting with Donald Trump is possible.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 15, Reuters said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared Ukraine's readiness to to refuse to join NATO in exchange for legally enforceable security guarantees from the United States, similar to NATO Article 5.
