Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed deep pessimism about the rapid transfer of frozen russian assets to Ukraine's needs, saying that their actual use is "still light years away." Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stated this, Onet reports.

"At the moment, we have a solution that allows us to freeze Russian assets forever... However, from this moment on, the potential use of these funds for the restoration of Ukraine, not to mention military support for Ukraine, is still light years away," Tusk said.

He emphasized that an agreement that would allow the European Union to use frozen russian assets to rebuild Ukraine is "still a long way off," stressing the significant bureaucratic and legal complexity that stands in the way of confiscating and using these funds.

According to the official, the decision to allocate these funds to Ukraine will definitely not be made on December 18 at the summit in Brussels. He added that during the meeting of EU leaders, it is expected that an agreement will be reached on financing Ukraine for the next two years, which will be an important step to support Kyiv.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the ambassadors of the European Union countries approved a new procedure that allows long-term freezing of russian assets by majority vote, not unanimously.

The G7 countries are ready to explore the possibility of using all frozen russian funds to ensure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy expressed hope that the EU will resolve the issue of providing a reparations loan.
