Customs officers stopped an attempt to smuggle cash worth more than UAH 1.8 million.
This is stated in the report of the Lviv Customs, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
On December 13, a Lexus driven by a 43-year-old resident of the Kyiv Region arrived at the Nyzhankovychi - Malhowice checkpoint.
The driver chose the "green corridor" simplified customs control lane.


At the same time, during the customs inspection, USD 30,000 and EUR 21,300 was found in a backpack in a cardboard box, which exceeds the tax-free rate established for citizens - the equivalent of EUR 10,000.
The total amount of cash at the NBU exchange rate was over UAH 1.8 million.
The excess cash — USD 30,000 and EUR 11,300 — was temporarily seized pending the consideration of the case in accordance with the procedure established by law.
A protocol on violation of customs rules in accordance with Part 1 of Art. 471 of the Customs Code was drawn up over this fact.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 11 months of 2025, customs authorities detected 8,851 violations of customs rules worth UAH 10.9 billion.
