The russian occupation army is trying to break through a corridor to its units, which are blocked in the central part of Kupiansk, Kharkiv Region.
The head of the unmanned systems service of the 13th operational brigade Khartiia ("Charter") of the National Guard of Ukraine, Ihor Raikov stated this on the air of "Army TV."
According to him, the occupants continue active attempts to break through the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in order to restore ground communication with their units in Kupiansk. These attempts end in failure.
Raikov added that the russians blocked in Kupiansk are being supplied by drones. Despite the encirclement, the occupants are putting up a fierce resistance.
He added that the operation in Kupiansk began in September. At the first stage, the Ukrainian military were busy cutting off logistics and blocking the occupiers in the city.
"The second part is the localization of the enemy in the city, stabilization measures in the city itself, and the actual clearing of the city itself," the military explained.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 12, the DeepState analytical project said that the Ukrainian military cleared the northwestern part of Kupiansk. This information was later confirmed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The Ukrainian military managed not only to advance on the territory of Kupiansk itself, but also to regain control of several settlements in the vicinity of the city. This made it possible to push back the main russian forces blocking the russian army units in the center of Kupiansk.
Yesterday, December 15, Joint Forces Group spokesman Viktor Trehubov said that 100 to 200 russian army soldiers were blocked in Kupiansk. The city is being cleared carefully to minimize losses.
