Since April 2022, the army of the aggressor country russia has occupied 23% of the territory of the Donetsk Region. At the current rate of advance, it will take at least three years for the russians to capture the entire region.

It was reported by the DeepState analytical project on Monday, December 15.

According to analysts, at the time of the start of the full-scale russian invasion, approximately 32% of the territory of the Donetsk Region was under the control of the occupiers. As a result of the failure of the defense in the first weeks of the attack, russian troops were able to make a large-scale advance and occupy another 22.4% of the region's territory.

The pace of the occupiers' advance slowed down after Ukrainian forces stabilized the defense line from Vuhledar to Velyka Novosilka. After that, the russian advance came at the cost of enormous losses.

Ukraine currently controls 22.6% of the territory of the Donetsk Region. The largest cities in the region - Sloviansk and Kramatorsk - remain under control. Together with the surrounding settlements, they form a defense belt.

"In general, if there are no major changes, it will take at least 3 years for the Russians to occupy the entire Donetsk Region," the statement said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 11, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States propose to create a "free economic zone" on the part of the territory of the Donetsk Region that is currently controlled by Ukraine.
