Banks have provided financing for business projects aimed at developing 1.294 GW of power generation within the framework of the memorandum of understanding to finance the restoration of energy infrastructure affected by massive russian attacks.
This is stated in the report of the NBU, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to a survey of banks, for the period from June 1, 2024 to December 1, 2025, banks also provided financing for 540 MW of energy storage and heat generation projects.
In total, during this period, banks provided financing for energy recovery and energy independence projects in 21 regions of the country for UAH 33.5 billion, including more than 2,500 loans to businesses for UAH 31.3 billion and more than 13,000 loans to households for UAH 2.2 billion.
The gross portfolio of "energy" loans to legal entities, taking into account their repayment as of December 1, reached UAH 21.8 billion, and to individuals - UAH 1.7 billion.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the energy sector is recognized as one of the priorities according to the Lending Development Strategy developed by the National Bank of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine and the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine. As part of this strategy, the NBU has taken a number of steps to boost lending to priority sectors.
In particular, to stimulate financing of the energy sector, the NBU has revised the requirements for banks to assess credit risks and increased the coefficients for taking into account the cost of energy equipment when banks accept it as collateral for relevant loans.
