Ukraine is ready to hold presidential elections in a full-scale war. To do this, a number of issues need to be resolved: security, the possibility of voting for military personnel and changes to legislation.

The statement was made by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with journalists on Tuesday, December 9, Babel writes.

According to him, he asked the United States, possibly with European partners, to provide security for the elections. If this is done, Ukraine will be ready to hold the election process in the next 60-90 days.

He also asked members of the Verkhovna Rada to prepare proposals to change the legislation that would allow for elections under martial law.

"I will be in Ukraine tomorrow. I am waiting for proposals from partners, I am waiting for proposals from our MPs and I am ready to go to the polls," Zelenskyy said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the day before, US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Politico that Ukraine needs to hold a presidential election. The American leader suggested that Zelenskyy could win it.

Zelenskyy, who is currently on a working visit to Italy, stated his readiness to hold elections.

As a reminder, on November 30, The Wall Street Journal wrote that during the talks in Miami, the Ukrainian and American delegations discussed the schedule of elections in Ukraine.
