US Vice President J.D. Vance said that relations between Ukraine and russia are a source of constant frustration for the entire White House. According to him, the Trump administration really believed that the russian-Ukrainian war would be the easiest to resolve.
Asked about his biggest disappointment as vice president, Vance named the failure to reach a deal to end russia's war against Ukraine.
"Oh, man. I mean, look, the Russia-Ukraine thing has been a source of perennial frustration, I think, for the entire White House. I think that we really thought — and you’ve heard the president say this a million times — that that would be the easiest war to solve," Vance said.
Vance also said that earlier, if someone had told him that peace in the Middle East was easier to achieve than peace in Eastern Europe, he would have said "you were crazy."
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, meanwhile, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hagel, when asked which three people he would invite to dinner, chose US President Donald Trump, russian dictator vladimir putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to "see what happens".
