The latest NATO exercise in Romania showed how much European allies depend on the United States. In the event of a real invasion, the Romanian army would have to hold the line on its own for several weeks.
Bloomberg reported this, citing its own sources
NATO exercises lasted from October 20 to November 13 in Romania. More than 5,000 Romanian military personnel and units from nine allied countries took part in them. During the exercise, the allies simulated an invasion of Romania by the aggressor country russia. One of the elements of the maneuvers was the deployment of troops and equipment from France.
According to Bloomberg's interlocutors, the exercises demonstrated the strong dependence of European NATO members on the United States. We are talking about logistical and strategic capabilities. Because of this, the deployment from Western Europe to Romania has been delayed. Experts believe that in the event of a real invasion, it would take weeks.
Thus, if Romania were to come under a real attack, its troops would have to repel the attack on their own, waiting for NATO allies to arrive
Bloomberg sources said that following the exercises, European countries asked the United States not to reduce its military presence on the continent.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 17, European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius said, that after the end of the russian-Ukrainian war, experienced Ukrainian military could strengthen the defense capabilities of the European Union.
Not long before, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that the aggressor country russia may attack NATO before 2029.
