The media of the aggressor country russia "ignored" the news of the failed launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile. The incident took place on November 28 in the Orenburg Oblast of the russian federation
It was reported by the russian edition of The Insider.
The publication writes that for two days the largest russian federal media have not published any news about the missile crash.
The RIA Novosti news agency published a story with the headline "Peskov says he has not seen reports of an alleged missile explosion in the Orenburg Oblast ." The same report was published by Gazeta.ru and Lenta.ru. TASS did not publish anything on this topic at all. Komsomolskaya Pravda-Orenburg also "decided to remain silent."
The Insider notes that only the local edition of Ural56.ru published several articles about the missile fall and explosion. It wrote about the strange purple smoke and published a comment from the Unified Emergency Dispatch Service about the lack of evacuation plans for residents of the nearby area.
Local authorities also did not comment on the incident. The government of the Orenburg Oblast also reported the absence of evacuation plans, and recommended contacting the press service of the russian Ministry of Defense regarding the missile incident.

Last Friday, November 28, a video of a missile taking off from the test site was published online. After reaching a certain height, it flipped over and flew towards the ground. A powerful explosion followed.
Information is spreading on the Internet that an UR-100 missile, which is used as a warhead carrier in the Avangard missile system, crashed in the Orenburg Oblast. According to other information, the incident occurred with a Sarmat missile.
After the missile fell and exploded, a large-scale fire broke out at the scene. The area of the fire was about 40 hectares, The Insider writes.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in January 2025, Business Insider wrote that russia cannot bring the Sarmat missile to completion, as the necessary competence is possessed by engineers from the Dnipro-based Pivdenmash, but contacts with them were severed after the outbreak of war.
