Ukraine and Norway have signed an agreement on joint production of Ukrainian drones. The pilot production line is planned to be launched in 2026.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has announced this.
"Ukraine and Norway will jointly produce Ukrainian drones. The relevant document was signed with Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Sandvik. This is an important step that will allow us to scale up our capabilities and strengthen Ukraine's defense," the statement said.
It is indicated that the next step is to quickly deploy a pilot production line in 2026 and work in parallel to further increase capacity.
"Ukraine will share its experience and innovations with Norway. In turn, we will get a strong production site that will provide our soldiers with modern drones, as well as research and development cooperation with leading Norwegian institutions," Shmyhal said.
He called the project an example of cooperation that strengthens the defense capabilities of "all countries of the free world" and thanked Norway for its support.
As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers has opened the way for manufacturers to use technologies of the Ministry of Defense.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine and the United States had started joint production of interceptor drones used in air defense.
In addition, Zelenskyy claimed that Ukraine's potential in the production of drones and missiles in 2026 will be USD 35 billion.
