The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office have confirmed searches of the head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak.
They simultaneously announced this on their social media pages, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"NABU and SAPO are conducting investigative actions (searches) at the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine," NABU and SAPO said.
The investigative actions are authorized and carried out as part of the investigation. Law enforcement agencies promised to provide details later.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the evening of November 20, Zelenskyy held a closed meeting with members of the Servant of the People faction, where he made it clear that there are no plans of the resignation of the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak. Meanwhile, the Verkhovna Rada says that amid a corruption scandal in the energy sector, on Thursday, November 20, Zelenskyy intended to relieve the head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak. Also, MP from the Servant of the People party Fedir Venislavskyi said that Yermak should resign. According to him, the pro-presidential faction is currently holding lively discussions about the possible resignation of the head of the President's Office.
During the full-scale war, the relationship between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, has become extremely close - they live together in the presidential complex, spend almost all their time together, and, according to the Financial Times, their relationship has long gone beyond purely working.
On November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office released part of the audio recordings as part of an investigation into a large-scale corruption scheme in the energy sector, codenamed Midas. According to NABU and SAPO, the main activity of the suspects was the systematic receipt of illegal benefits from Energoatom's contractors in the amount of 10% to 15% of the value of contracts. Within the framework of the case searches were conducted at the place of the businessman and co-owner of the Kvartal 95 studio Tymur Mindich.
