Ukraine "has agreed to a peace agreement", initiated by the administration of former US President Donald Trump to stop the russian offensive, which has been going on for almost four years. This is reported by CBS News.
The Ukrainian President's National Security Advisor Rustem Umerov and the American official confirmed that the parties have reached a common understanding of the key points of the proposal. However, they noted that the final details of the peace agreement still need to be finalized.
Umerov reported on the possible visit of President Zelenskyy to Washington to finalize the agreement by the end of November. At the same time, according to CBS News (which first reported this on Sunday), the possibility of the Ukrainian leader's visit to the United States was discussed between American and Ukrainian officials earlier.
"The Ukrainians have agreed to a peace agreement... There are some minor details that need to be sorted out, but they have agreed to a peace agreement," said the American official who spoke to CBS News.
The announcement of the deal coincided with a visit by U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll to Abu Dhabi for talks with russian officials. His presence in the UAE capital was confirmed to CBS News by two U.S. officials, two diplomatic sources and another source familiar with the talks.
There was no immediate reaction to the Abu Dhabi agreement from russia, the aggressor in the war.
Citing a U.S. military official in Abu Dhabi, CBS News reported that Driscoll spent several hours in direct talks with russian officials on Tuesday, taking part in meetings throughout the day.
"We remain very optimistic. Secretary Driscoll is optimistic. We hope to hear from the russians soon. Things are moving quickly," the official said.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi, reported that during the negotiations, the American and Ukrainian delegations discussed the peace plan "point by point", the most sensitive of which will be raised at the level of the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States.
The media, citing sources in the White House, reported that a meeting of the Presidents of the United States and Ukraine in connection with discussions of the US "peace plan" to end the war is not scheduled this week.
