American and Ukrainian officials are negotiating a potential trip of President Volodymyr Zelenskнy to the United States. According to sources involved in the process, the trip may become part of the initiative of the Donald Trump administration, which seeks to agree on key elements of the peace plan by Thanksgiving - November 27. This is reported by CBS News.
As the publication notes, the final decision on the visit will largely depend on the results of Sunday's talks in Geneva. If the consultations are successful, Zelenskyн may leave for the United States as early as next week.
At present, according to journalists, the specific schedule or details of the potential visit have not yet been determined. A White House representative emphasized that direct contacts with the russian side or trips to russia are not being considered.
At the same time, American officials suggest an alternative scenario: US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll may travel to russia or meet with its representatives at a neutral venue if necessary to advance the negotiation process.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the US has developed a "peace plan" to end the war in Ukraine. Work on it was carried out in consultation with the russian side.
Later, Axios reported that the document consists of 28 points and contains russia's maximalist demands on Ukraine, which it has been making since 2022.
The White House stated that President Trump is familiar with the "peace plan" and supports it.
