The US presented an updated package of proposals for the settlement of the situation in Ukraine and announced significant progress in the negotiations in Geneva. This is reported by DRM News.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained that the American peace plan currently has from 26 to 28 points - the difference depends on the wording of the document, which continues to be adjusted after consultations with the Ukrainian side. He emphasized: "We came here today with one goal, and the goal was to take, well, 28 points or 26 points, depending on the version... and try to reduce the number of unresolved points".
According to him, the current stage of the negotiations was the result of long months of work and continuous exchange of proposals between the US and Ukraine. Rubio noted that in recent days, consultations with Kyiv have been as intensive as possible, and the participation of representatives of various Ukrainian structures has helped to clarify key positions.
The Secretary of State said: "So we had a very good day today. I think we made tremendous progress...", emphasizing that the document remains a working basis for now.
He added that over the previous 96 hours, the American team had held a number of substantive meetings in Kyiv to narrow down the list of controversial points. "We came here today with one goal... and today we achieved that very significantly," Rubio concluded.
At the same time, he acknowledged that the final agreement on the plan depends on the decisions of the leaders of the countries. "This was the most productive day... But the work remains," the Secretary of State noted, emphasizing that the final details still need to be worked out, and it is too early to talk about completed agreements.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 19, the American publication Axios wrote that the United States had developed a "peace plan" to end the war in Ukraine. Work on it was carried out in consultation with the russian side.
Axios later reported that the document consists of 28 points and contains russia's maximalist demands on Ukraine, which it has been making since 2022.
The White House said that President Trump is familiar with the "peace plan" and supports it.
