The SBI disclosed the preliminary conclusions of the investigation based on the materials of conversations on the NABU tapes. No pressure, influence or instructions in the interests of third parties were exerted on SBI employees.

The SBI press service has reported this.

It is noted that SBI employees did not find any pressure, influence or instructions in the interests of third parties on the Bureau's employees. These are the preliminary conclusions of the verification of information that appeared in the media after the special operation of the NABU and the SAPO and the publication of the relevant audio recordings.

On November 14, on the initiative of the SBI Director, the Main Investigation Department registered in the Unified Register Of Pre-Trial Investigations information on the grounds of possible crimes under the article on obtaining illegal benefit in a large amount or by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, or related to extortion and abuse of power or official authority by a law enforcement officer, which caused serious consequences.

Investigators checked the information published by the media, in particular regarding:

  • possible receipt of illegal benefits by individual SBI employees for access to data on the course and prospects of investigations;
  • possible pressure on individual officials; possible searches "on request" of those involved in criminal proceedings in the so-called "Midas case", the investigation of which is being conducted by the NABU.

It is known that more than 30 people have already been interrogated, 12 lineups have been made, and 19 requests have been sent.

It was found out that some of the NABU case participants visited the SBI building due to circumstances related to the investigation of a separate criminal proceeding.

The possible influence of the defendants in the Midas case on SBI employees was checked especially thoroughly. The investigation found that no pressure, influence or instructions in the interests of third parties were exerted on SBI employees, and no actions were taken at the request of the defendants in the NABU case.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 10, NABU and SAPO announced the exposure of a large-scale corruption scheme at the state-owned Energoatom company. According to the investigation, officials are involved in systemic money laundering and illicit enrichment.
