Former MP of Ukraine, and now Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia Serhii Leshchenko said that Ukrzaliznytsia plans to change the approach to pricing, which will lead to an increase in the price of certain categories of train tickets. He said this in an interview with Glavcom.
"The following option is currently being considered: the later you buy a ticket for certain trains, the higher their cost may be. But I don't want to be accused tomorrow of raising prices and so on. If the decision is made, it will apply exclusively to sleeping cars and first class," Leshchenko said.
The Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia also added that the concept may still change, since there is no final decision yet.
"We are studying models of dynamic ticket pricing, as airlines or international carriers do, but the decision has not yet been made," Leshchenko noted.
Leshchenko also said that Ukrzaliznytsia provides the opportunity to rent VIP cars, such as those used by world leaders during their visits to Ukraine.
"Such a car has a set of services typical of private jets - one bedroom with its own bathroom, a meeting room, service compartments for accompanying persons, a separate kitchen, and so on <…> these cars can be ordered even by private individuals," Leshchenko said.
As is known, last month Leshchenko was appointed a member of the supervisory board of Ukrzaliznytsia for the third time.
At the same time, as a member of the supervisory board of Ukrzaliznytsia, Serhii Leshchenko earned almost UAH 3 million in salary in 2024, despite the fact that Ukrzaliznytsia ended 2024 with losses of UAH 4.2 billion.
