The Cabinet of Ministers has partially renewed the composition of the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia and, among other things, reappointed Serhii Leshchenko to the Supervisory Board as a representative of the state.

Decree No. 1090-r of October 1 states this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

This is Leshchenko's third appointment as a member of the Supervisory Board.

In December 2021, Leshchenko was reappointed to the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia, and in early February 2022, he was elected deputy chairman.

Leshchenko always supports the Office of the President, Yermak and Zelenskyy in his public speeches. Therefore, his job at Ukrzaliznytsia with a monthly salary of UAH 300,000 may be a payment for his loyalty to the government as a media personality.

Serhii Leshchenko has repeatedly been involved in scandals and curiosities.

On September 6, 2016, it became known that Leshchenko bought a 192 m² apartment in a new building in the historic center of Kyiv for UAH 7.5 million (over USD 300,000).

According to SerhiI, half of the amount was a loan from Olena Prytula, part of it was savings, and the rest was money from his girlfriend Anastasia Topolska.

The NABU did not find a criminal offense in the case.

On February 9, 2017, MP from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction Ivan Melnychuk and SerhiI Leshchenko started a fight in the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

According to Leshchenko, the conflict occurred allegedly because of a Facebook post in which Leshchenko wrote that MPs from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction deliberately disrupted meetings of the Anti-Corruption Committee in order to later accuse the committee of being incapable of functioning.

Leshchenko punched Melnychuk in the face, and the latter damaged Leshchenko's jacket.

Leshchenko also did not support the language law, although he was present in the hall, and according to the results of the vote, he was listed as absent.

In early 2020, Leshchenko was appointed head of the Compliance and Anti-Corruption Committee at Ukrzaliznytsia, but corruption scandals continued to occur in the company.

As a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia, Serhii Leshchenko was unable to answer a journalist's question about the track gauge of the Ukrainian railroad.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Serhii Leshchenko, a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia, earned almost UAH 3 million in 2024, despite the fact that Ukrzaliznytsia ended 2024 with a loss of UAH 4.2 billion.
