The European Union is considering imposing new restrictions on companies and entities that help russia's "shadow fleet" operate. It was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.

EU foreign ministers are discussing ways to tighten control over countries that register ships belonging to the "shadow fleet" on Thursday. Arriving at the meeting, EU diplomat Kaja Kallas said: "What else can we do with the 'shadow fleet' because it really affects Russia's revenues to finance this war."

According to Bloomberg, in a document prepared for the discussion, Poland proposed new coordination mechanisms, including possible authorization for authorities to board ships to counter their activities.

The same document states that thanks to "extensive diplomatic work," the EU was able to convince a significant number of states to deregister ships linked to the russian "shadow fleet."

Poland also proposes to more actively engage port and coastal countries, as well as other organizations that can influence the operation of such vessels.

According to Bloomberg's sources, any additional restrictions could be included in the 20th package of EU sanctions.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, yesterday, November 16, the US President announced "severe sanctions" against countries that trade with russia.
