Republicans in the US Congress are preparing a bill on "very severe sanctions" against any country that continues to do business with russia. US President Donald Trump stated this, according to Bloomberg.

"The Republicans are putting in legislation that is very tough sanctioning, etcetera, on any country doing business with Russia," Trump told reporters.

US President Donald Trump has personally supported the initiative of Republicans in the Senate to impose sanctions on countries doing business with russia. Commenting on the bill, Trump emphasized that the document "is okay with him," which is the clearest evidence of support for efforts to cut off moscow's funding

"We may add Iran to that," Trump emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, US officials have been traveling to Europe to promote American energy instead of russian energy.

The United States has imposed new sanctions against leading russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil. The restrictions are aimed at increasing economic pressure on the kremlin because of its war against Ukraine.

Later, the White House explained that Trump decided to impose sanctions because of the lack of real steps towards ending the war on the part of russia.
